Position Title: Pantry Director
Hours/Days: 40 hours per week (on-site and remote), requires flexibility in schedule to meet the needs of deliveries, inventory procurement and client distribution

Organization Overview:
Acton Food Pantry (AFP) is committed to alleviating food insecurity in our area by partnering with the community to provide access to food with care, dignity, and respect. Established in 1984, we are a 501 (c)(3). We were originally established to serve Acton and the abutting communities; however, since the beginning of the pandemic we have opened our doors to allow any food insecure household to visit the pantry. We currently serve an average of 325 households or upwards of 2100 unique individuals each month.

Position Overview:
The Pantry Director is the organization’s operational leader, overseeing all of the day-to-day logistics that are essential to the pantry’s effectiveness, including the acquisition and distribution of food and personal care items to pantry clients. The Pantry Director works closely with our Community Distribution Manager and the Executive Director to develop and implement plans that sustain, diversify and/or expand the operations of our pantry in accordance with client needs, the organization’s mission, and strategic objectives. This position requires management of volunteers.

Responsibilities and Duties:
1. InventoryProcurementandManagementincludesbutisnotlimitedto:
a. Serves as the organization’s primary contact with the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB), maintaining agency status in good standing, provides reports as needed and attends meetings
b. Oversees the procurement of food and personal care items from all sources, including, but not limited to the GBFB, local suppliers/wholesalers, supermarkets, partner organizations, food rescue organizations, farmers markets, and farms; seeks out new sources as needed
c. Serves as the pantry’s Food Safety Workshop manager and as needed the ServSafe manager
d. Maintainsgoodworkingrelationshipswithvendorsandvolunteers
e. Organizesandoverseesannualinventoryweighingeachyearduring the last week of June

2. Facilities Management

3. Client Distribution Management includes but is not limited to:
a. Oversees weekly distribution, including set-up, implementation, and record keeping
b. Works with volunteer coordinator to ensure that volunteers understand processes and procedures and can easily access the pantry

4. Volunteer Management

5. Resource for Executive Director includes but is not limited to:
a. Compiles information, recordkeeping, reporting, database management

Required Qualifications:

● Ability to multitask, solve problems, work independently, and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
● Strong organizational skills
● Prior leadership experience and experience managing day-to-day operations
● Excellent verbal communication skills
● Ability to work in a diverse community
● Willingness to study and achieve ServSafe Manager certification (certification expenses will be covered)
● Proficient computer skills.
● Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time.

Preferred:
● Prior experience designing and implementing operational processes and procedures.
● Bilingual/Multilingual individual (especially Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Chinese), and/or individual who has relevant lived experience.
● Car and valid driver’s license.
● Comfortable driving a van

Compensation and Benefits: $60,000-$65,000 annual salary (based on experience), plus stipend for health insurance, paid vacation
