Are you passionate about Jewish cultural identity and social justice? The Secular Jewish Cultural Sunday School of Boston Workers Circle teaches Jewish history, culture, and social justice to young people in grades Pre-K through 7th grade.

BWC provides each teacher with a broad curriculum which is adapted to meet the needs of the children in each class, and is guided by an arts and project-based approach.

Grades Currently Hiring:

  • A Circle Playtime Teacher: Circle Playtime is our monthly drop-in playgroup for families with children ages 2-5 years old. This role is a chance to offer families and young children a taste of our Shule program, as well as to meaningfully connect with other progressive, culturally and secular Jewish families. The teacher will run the opening circle time, design engaging, self-directed activities tied to Jewish or Social Justice holidays, support the music class, and facilitate a warm and welcoming environment for young children and their caregivers.

Ideal Candidates Have…

  • Experience in a classroom, after-school, or summer camp working directly with young children.
  • Experience with community building and facilitating.
  • A passion for working with families and young children together in an intergenerational environment that serves blended families and families that are racially, ethnically, gender and age diverse.
  • Some knowledge of Jewish history and culture.
  • A demonstrated commitment to social justice.
  • Knowledge of Yiddish and or Ladino is a plus, though not required.
  • Experience with community organizing is a plus, though not required.
  • Availability to teach monthly Sunday mornings from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm (which includes a half hour of set-up and clean-up) in Brookline, MA, from September 7- June 7. Our site is T-accessible, wheelchair accessible and there is on-street parking.
