Position Overview

Reporting

to the Senior Marketing Communications Manager, the Web Coordinator will help

build the Garden’s brand awareness and grow its audience mainly through its web

presence. The position focuses on supporting the Garden’s website and assisting

other online and offline marketing and communications efforts and initiatives

at the Garden.

 

 

The Web Coordinator will work with the

Marketing and Communications staff, a part of the larger New England Botanic

Garden organization. The

Marketing and Communications department works on amplifying the Garden’s brand

as a must-see destination for all, a horticultural resource, a thought leader,

and a valued community partner. Marketing

and Communications staff have regular contact with staff from all departments

as they work to support New England Botanic Garden’s mission and to promote its

gardens, educational programs, events, exhibits, the Garden Shop, café,

weddings and rentals, and fundraising efforts. The Web Coordinator will be part

of a collegial team.

 

Positional Responsibilities

·        

Responsible for auditing and supporting web maintenance regularly.

·        

Responsible for keeping the website accurate and up to date, including

adding and editing new pages and blog posts and updating any urgent announcements.

·        

Creates graphics and banners to be uploaded to the website as needed.

·        

Ensures web design consistency on all the pages and

a friendly user interface by testing the website on different browsers and

platforms.

·        

Supports Search Engine Optimization by adding alt tags and optimizing the

content.

·        

Seeks new ways to make the website accessible on all browsers and

devices.

·        

Stays informed of developments

in the web industry to generate and suggest new ideas. Helps with design

improvements to new and existing website features.

·        

Helps create monthly Google

Analytics reports.

·        

Assists with designing and producing digital collateral

and multimedia, as well as print graphics and promotional collateral like

cards, banners, posters, flyers, etc.

·        

Assists in keeping the Garden’s onsite and offsite

promotional items current.

·        

Supports New England Botanic Garden’s branding and brand

consistency in its functional and creative visuals.

·        

Contributes to other aspects of marketing and

communications as needed.

 

Schedule

·        

Regular business

hours. Some weekend work may be required. This is a full-time, as defined in

our handbook, (32 hours) position–a mix of onsite and remote work flexibility

is available after the first few months.

 

Education and Experience

·        

High school diploma,

certificate, associate degree, or equivalent experience

in Web Design, Graphic Design, or Digital Marketing.

·        

Three years of web design/development experience, preferably at a

nonprofit, museum, or nature-related organization preferred.

·        

The portfolio should

showcase website and graphic design experience.

·        

Experience with WordPress required.

·        

Understanding of user experience, responsive design, and web acquisition

traffic required.

·        

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator,

InDesign, Acrobat, and Dreamweaver required.

·        

Ability

to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and oral communication.

·        

Must demonstrate time management, creativity, problem-solving, and

entrepreneurial spirit through past collaborative projects.

·        

Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals

as well as meet deadlines.

·        

Experience with HTML, search engine marketing, and Google Analytics is

strongly preferred.

·        

Experience with

photography and videography is a plus.

 

Skills

·        

Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize

numerous projects in various stages of development.

Must collaborate with

colleagues from various departments to help them achieve their short and

long-term goals.

Must have a good eye for design

and a

creative approach to problem-solving.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions:

·        

Must be able to work with appropriate computer and

communications equipment.

·        

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of

the time

·        

Must be able to navigate uneven ground.

·        

Must be able to travel to the Garden.

·        

Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and Teams is required.

Safety                                                                                                                                                                  

·        

Works with an awareness of surroundings and vigilant to any possible

threat to the safety of staff and the

public, or to NEBG at Tower Hill’s property. Ensures all concerns are reported

promptly.

Reports all accidents and injuries immediately to an immediate

supervisor and/or Chief

Financial & Operations

Officer, or designee.

·        

Complies with provisions of the current

Employee Handbook, all published personnel

policies, and the requirements of the job description.
