The Controller is responsible for managing the smooth operations of the day-to-day accounting functions and for providing key reports and analysis to assist in informing strategic and operational business decisions. They will oversee all accounting systems/processes to ensure financial accuracy, and that regulatory and tax requirements are met.
Major Responsibilities:
- In partnership with CFO, ensures a system of strong internal controls, best practices and preparation of its financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Oversees the accounting department, with direct supervision of senior accountants, purchasers, accounting/contracts specialists, and AP/GL Specialist.
- Manages proper financial accounting functions to assure accurate and timely recording and reporting of corporate financial information for Northeast Arc, Inc. and all affiliated companies.
- Develops systems with the CFO and department staff to improve accounting procedures, controls, reporting and internal auditing. Develops and communicates adequate procedures, instructions, records and reports to ensure internal controls are regularly understood, tested and enforced.
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates the year-end close process with external auditors. Coordinates the preparation of workpapers for the annual audit, cost report, and tax filings. Oversees preparation and submission of required vendor, property, and regulatory filings.
- Utilizes technology to support the department efficiently and effectively. Collaborates with trade groups and other providers to determine and implement best practices.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with concentration in accounting or similar. MBA and/or CPA preferred.
- 5-7 years relative experience in general accounting in a complex environment
- 3 years supervisory experience
- Non-profit experience preferred
Salary: $110,000-$120,000/annual
